Bio

Marc Abrahams writes about things that are surprising. He created the Ig Nobel Prize ceremony, the magazine Annals of Improbable Research, books, videos, podcasts, theatrical events, and the librettos for more than 20 funny science mini-operas. His website is improbable.com

Marc was a longtime fan, friend and collaborator of John Hoyland, who created New Scientist's Feedback column. After Hoyland died in 2014, Marc organised a series of tribute events to him and Feedback, in events around the UK. In 2022, Marc took on writing Feedback himself.

Earlier, Marc was editor of the magazine Journal of Irreproducible Results, and a columnist for The Guardian, The Harvard Business Review, the science magazines Cómo Ves (in Mexico),  Zeitwissen (in Germany), Le Scienze (in Italy), Etiqueta Negra (in Peru), and Chemistry World, and the technology magazines Byte, Embedded Systems Design, and Design News. Before that, he worked on applied mathematics and on unusual ways to use computers, among those a reading machine for the blind and software that gave people experience at making tough decisions.
