I really enjoyed A City on Mars (pictured above) by Kelly and Zach Weinersmith, a hilarious and forthright look at the practicalities of living in space. The science-writing duo argue that enthusiasts have focused so much on the technical challenges that they have overlooked the many biological, psychological and legal barriers to colonising outer space.
For instance, any long-term human colony needs reproduction. But how well does pregnancy work in low gravity? Or sex, for that matter? Or early child development? The Weinersmiths…
